Senator the Honourable Matthew Samuda at 35 years old, has pursued several entrepreneurial, civic and political initiatives, which have allowed him to be a social justice advocate, business savvy and politically astute young man.
He has been blessed to have worked in some of the most dynamic environments in the Caribbean commercial landscape in the last 10 years including:

- Advertising & Marketing (ADMARK) Jamaica Limited
- J Wray & Nephew
- The Musson Group
In 2011, Senator Samuda served as President of the Seaview Gardens Football Club and during that season, all youth teams were enrolled in a reading programme and a school feeding programme to ensure their general development.
In March 2015, he was appointed to the prestigious post of President of Generation 2000 (the Young Professional Affiliate of the Jamaica Labour Party).
Senator Samuda's political experience includes: Vice President of G2K in 2011 to 2014; he served on the board of Directors for Agriculture Investment Corporation in 2011; Chairman of the Bureau of Standards in 2018 to 2020; and member of various JLP bodies and committees, inclusive of the Standing Committee and Central Committee.
He was previously in charge of the JLP’s, G2K’s and the Most Hon. Andrew Holness' social media marketing efforts. Senator Samuda is currently the Head of the JLP's Public Relations Committee.
In 2016, he was appointed to the Upper House of Parliament to serve as a Senator. His efforts have been primarily focused on environmental policy in the Senate, which have led to the ban in 2019 on single use plastic bags and Styrofoam in Jamaica.
In March 2020, he was sworn in as Minister without Portfolio assigned to the Ministry of National Security, becoming the youngest member of Jamaica's Cabinet.
