Overview
The Caribbean Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Centre (REDTRAC) operates as a Division of the Ministry of National Security and Peace. REDTRAC is a post-secondary, special-focus training institution and a regional training hub serving the Caribbean Community.
REDTRAC was established to strengthen regional law enforcement capabilities in drug interdiction, reduce dependence on third countries for training, improve the relationship between Caribbean drug law enforcement agencies, and enhance networking, co-operation, and the promotion of a common drug law enforcement programme across the region.
Objectives
- Strengthen regional law enforcement capabilities in drug interdiction and counter-narcotics operations
- Reduce Caribbean dependence on non-regional countries for specialised law enforcement training
- Improve co-operation and networking between Caribbean drug law enforcement agencies
- Promote a common drug law enforcement programme and standards across CARICOM member states
Key Functions
- Delivery of specialised training programmes in drug law enforcement for Caribbean officers
- Coordination of regional training calendars and course development
- Facilitation of information sharing and best practice exchange between regional agencies
- Partnership with international bodies including UNODC, DEA, and regional security organisations
- Management of REDTRAC's training facilities and residential accommodation
